Years for 90% and 40% silver coins
I tried searching through the threads and using goggle, but never found any clear cut answer...
What years are the 90% and 40% coins (i.e. quarters, halves, dimes, nickels)? Thankx. |

Re: Years for 90% and 40% silver coins
1964 was the last year for 90% silver coins in circulation. Dimes, quarters, and halves were 90%. 40% halves were minted between 1965 and 1970. 1970 40% halves, were available in mint sets only. Wartime silver nickels were minted between 1942 and 1945. These nickels contain about 35% silver, and are recognized by the extra large mintmark on the reverse of the coin, above Monticello. The easiest thing to do, is to buy a blue, or red coin book. All of the info is contained in those books.
